Hoeve Ovisto is a luxurious 14-person holiday home located in the Belgian village of Warsage. It is the perfect base for exploring the three-country region, as it is only 2 km away from the Voer region, 8 km from Maastricht, 20 km from Liege and 30 km from Aachen. Although these cities are certainly worth a visit, the holiday home itself also offers plenty to do. In the months of half May to September, you can even swim in the heated outdoor pool.
Renovation of the property
‘Ovisto’ is part of a traditional farmstead from around 1770. The oldest, original parts of this farmstead are the house and the barn. In the 19th century, wings were added to these original parts to create a ‘square’ farmstead, a common farm type in the Belgian ‘Pays de Herve’ region. ‘O vi sto’ means ‘in the old stables’ in Walloon, the Romance language spoken in much of Wallonia. Until 2000, the site was home to a farm with cowsheds. When Xavier and Marijke and their children bought the farmhouse, they completely restored and rebuilt it. Xavier, an architect by trade, has done a phenomenal job of restructuring and redecorating all the rooms. Thanks to its colourful and creative interior design, the home has a very bright look and feel.
Let's take a peek inside
On the terrace you will find the entrance to the holiday home. Once you have entered the home, you find yourself in an atmospheric living room with a large pellet stove. In line with the living room is a modern kitchen with a high bar table. This kitchen is equipped with all conveniences such as a 5-burner induction cooker, double fridge, oven, microwave and dishwasher. The stairways with automatic lighting take you to the first floor. Here you will find four double bedrooms; all of them have a unique style and are equipped with luxurious single box-spring beds. Furthermore, each bedroom has its own bathroom featuring a washbasin, toilet and luxury shower. The bathrooms can be closed off with a glass door. On the second floor, there are three more double bedrooms. These bedrooms, too, have attractive furnishings and a private bathroom. Last but not least, there is a spacious double bedroom (without private bathroom) in the ridge of the house.
Outdoor space
If you find the inside of the holiday home impressive, you should see the outdoor area! The living room gives access to a large, sheltered terrace which is surrounded by greenery. Here you will find a wooden dining table and a lovely lounge corner. Steps lead up to the garden, where a big surprise awaits you. A surprise in the form of a built-in, heated swimming pool of no less than 12.5 by 2.5 metres (open from begin May, according to the weather, to 1 September). Go for a swim or relax in one of the ten deck chairs to enjoy the view. Children can enjoy themselves on the playing field with trampoline and playground equipment.
