In the heart of the Geul Valley lies the monumental, 15th-century farmstead ‘Hof de Brulle’. This beautiful 28-person holiday home offers a panorama of Limburg’s hills. If you are looking for an exclusive location and would like to cook together in a real cooking studio, then look no further. The estate has a 1.5-hectare outdoor courtyard that is part of the breathtaking, hilly landscape. Stroll through the orchard or put on your walking shoes and follow the sunken road to the footpaths that pass through here.
Renovation of the property
This farm was mentioned as early as 1497, but it is definitely older. ‘Hof de Brulle’s’ history even includes links to Beethoven and Empress Josephine. The property has recently been lovingly and skilfully restored by the owner, who lives in the west wing of the farmhouse. There can be nothing but praise for the transformation that this old farmhouse and the surrounding estate have undergone. All authentic elements have been preserved or restored. Today, ‘Hof de Brulle’ is a popular location for holidays and small-scale intimate gatherings such as training sessions, meetings, workshops, and retreats. The property is rented out exclusively to one party, meaning there are no other guests present.
Let's take a peek inside
The farmhouse accommodates a spacious (more than 500 m2) holiday home for 28 persons with a professional cooking studio, a large lounge with wood-burning stove, thirteen luxurious bedrooms, ten bathrooms, and two large workshop rooms.
Without a doubt, the beating heart of the holiday home is the spacious living space. In this space, you can immediately recognize the love for design and art. For example, the large designer sofas contrast nicely with the authentic walls made of Kunrader stone. The high glass facades overlooking the courtyard and gardens bring inside the outdoor sensations. In the summer, you can walk onto the large terrace on the south side to enjoy the sun. In the winter, you can bask in the warmth of the monumental loam stove.
Immediately adjacent to the living area is the cooking studio, which is fully equipped. You can make the most delicious dishes here, thanks to the variety of equipment. If you want to cook outside, barbecue and pizza lovers can use Big Green Egg barbecue, Pyron grill plates, or gas barbecue. You can pick fresh herbs from the herb garden in the courtyard. This is a perfect spot for cooking enthusiasts. Prepare a delicious meal as a team effort and enjoy it together at the wooden dining tables in the lounge or on the large terrace.
The luxurious bedrooms and bathrooms are situated around the courtyard enclosed with high boundaries, guaranteeing a good night's sleep. The bedrooms are all uniquely furnished and have a warm look and feel thanks to the timber-framed walls and sandstone. You will have a tough time choosing! Will you choose the bedroom with a panoramic view over the Geul valley or the intimate master bedroom at the outdoor courtyard? In addition to the thirteen bedrooms, ‘Hof de Brulle’ also has ten luxury bathrooms, all with luxurious walk-in showers.
Outdoor courtyard
As soon as you drive up the long, winding driveway of Hof de Brulle, you will be welcomed by natural splendour and a pleasant tranquillity. The holiday home has a lovely terrace with a view of Fromberg and the Geul Valley, as well as a large outdoor courtyard that is perfect for walking around, taking a seat on a bench in the sun, or strolling through the fruit orchard or vegetable garden. With a bit of luck, you may hear a nightingale or see one of the badgers that regularly scurry around the garden. Children can enjoy the playhouse with slide and swings or play on the large playing field. The two Quessant sheep love it when children offer them handfuls of bread.
Great meals and experiences
Hof de Brulle offers various workshops and catering options that can make your stay even more special. For example, you can attend a cooking workshop, learn how to herd sheep, enjoy a wonderfully relaxing singing bowl concert, or participate in a dynamic yoga session together. Bertie, the owner of Hof de Brulle, often acts as a facilitator and provides business training programmes and teambuilding sessions. Hof de Brulle's schedule includes many pampering weekends to choose from, including yoga, mindfulness, massages, and healthy food. Organic products from the estate’s own vegetable gardens and orchards or from local businesses are used for this.
Please Note
Due to its location, this holiday home is not suitable for student parties or hen or stag parties. It is therefore not permitted to play loud music or make lots of noise outside without prior consultation. It is particularly important to maintain peace and quiet after 10 PM.
