In the peaceful, picturesque hamlet of Cottessen lies a beautiful half-timbered farmhouse from the 18th century. This farmhouse is currently owned by the foundation “Het Limburgs Landschap”, which has carefully renovated the property. The former home (the left part of the farmhouse) has been transformed into a 12-person holiday home called Bervesj Huis. The former barn (the right part of the farmhouse) has been transformed into an atmospheric 8-person holiday home called Bervesj Schuur.
Let's take a look inside
When you enter Bervesj Schuur, you will find yourself in the hall that leads you to the cosy living room. The living room features a cosy sitting area around the wood burner. Enjoy the crackling fire and a glass of wine, together with friends or family. A lot of natural light enters the room thanks to the large windows. The floors have underfloor heating and are covered with red tiles that are typical for Limburg. The exposed wooden beams on the ceiling give the space a unique touch. In the back of the house, you will find the kitchen, which has plenty of work space and all the appliances to prepare a delicious meal. It is equipped with a 4-burner induction hob, oven, microwave, fridge-freezer, coffee machine, kettle and dishwasher. On the first floor you will find the bedrooms (two doubles and one quad), all equipped with comfortable box-spring beds. Thanks to the wooden floors and the beautiful timber work, the bedrooms have a cosy, charming atmosphere. The quad room consists of two separate sleeping areas, so that everyone has enough privacy. On the first floor you will also find a separate toilet and a spacious bathroom with a shower, bath, washbasin and toilet. (Recently the bathrooms have been renovated and there is no longer a bath available as shown in the video).
Outdoor space
Guests of ‘Bervesj Schuur’ can enjoy a gorgeous little garden and terrace – the perfect place to sit outside until the early hours. Children will also love playing at the table tennis table at the front of the building. We recommend exploring the beautiful surroundings on foot or by bike! Cottessen is a beautifully preserved hamlet with the same number of farms and houses as it had back in 1760 – fourteen in all. It’s the perfect spot to admire the landscape’s rolling hills, streams, and vast meadows in all their glory.
