Feel right at home at Grenspost Schilberg, a charming holiday home for 2 guests, located on the main road in Schilberg (the Netherlands) near the Belgian Voer Region. This fully renovated holiday home has a rich history: the large building was built in 1850 as a crossing point on the border with Belgium. Since then, it has been used as a customs office, petrol station, and bureau de change. For the past 40 years, everyone knew it as ‘Schilberg Restaurant’ and more affectionately as ‘Oma’s Keuken’ (grandma’s kitchen). In 2021, Ton and Paul took over the property and immediately set to work renovating the former old barn, which by then was also being used as a holiday home. It’s a comfortable place with a charming look and feel, offering fantastic views from the roof terrace! Please note that this property is not suitable for children under 12 years of age.
Inside
After you have parked your car in the car park and the homeowner has welcomed you, you enter the house in the hall which provides access to the living area, the bathroom and the stairs to the first floor. The cosy living room with open kitchen is fully equipped. A comfortable sitting area, practical dining area and a small but well-equipped kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with a 2-ring induction hob, combination oven, fridge with freezer compartment and a Nespresso machine. The modern bathroom has a toilet, sink and a lovely shower.
There are two bedrooms on the first floor. Either the double box-spring bed can be made up for you, or the owners will make one bed in each bedroom so you can sleep separately. From the double bedroom you have access to the roof terrace with its famous South Limburg panorama.
Outside
The roof terrace to the rear is the ideal place to enjoy a good book, a drink, and (very often) a spectacular sunset. The secluded area in the garden, complete with barbecue facilities, offers the same fantastic view!
You can park your car on private property and there is covered parking for your bicycles.
