In the past, pies and bread were baked at ‘t Bakhuisje van vrouw Holle. Today it is a very stylishly furnished holiday home. The building is located at the end of a private road, in a designated quiet area between the villages of Mechelen and Epen. From here, you have views over the undulating Geuldal countryside. The area is ideal for walking and it only takes a few minutes to reach charming little cafes and restaurants.

The bakery has recently been completely restored and renovated by the owners Bart and Cecile. During the renovation, Bart and Cecile sought to preserve many of the lovely original features such as the oak beams, the skirting boards made of stone from the river Meuse, and the wattle and daub. The holiday home has a cosy living room with a wood-burning stove, a kitchen with appliances such as a dishwasher and Boretti induction hob, two bedrooms, and a bathroom. The comfortable beds, plus towels, will be made and ready for you upon arrival. The bathroom is equipped with a cast-iron, free-standing bathtub, spacious walk-in shower, and washbasin. The luxury bath products provide a quintessential hotel experience! The entire ground floor has underfloor heating, and there is also a heat pump for hot water and heating.
Outdoor space
This holiday home also has a lovely outdoor space. The steel-framed doors in the kitchen provide access to a covered terrace (south-facing) and the back garden. Here you can completely unwind while enjoying the views over the Vijlenerbos forest and the hamlet of Bommerig. You can also make use of the classic Weltevree outdoor oven. This unique and versatile oven is completely wood-fired and can be used as an outdoor fireplace, barbecue or pizza oven! This is a really easy to way to prepare meals outdoors. A cookbook, pizza stone and various utensils are also provided. There is plenty for the children to do too: play hide and seek, pick fruit, jump on the trampoline or play in the playhouse (with slide and swings). Guests can also use the wonderful sauna. This sauna is shared with guests staying at holiday home Hoeve Hurpesch.
