In Mechelen, one of the most charming villages in South Limburg, you will find the 17-person holiday home Boekvink. Surrounded by beautiful views like the South Limburg hills, this is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a well-earned holiday together with family, friends or colleagues.
Estate of the Vinken family
Boekvink is situated on a 30-hectare large estate that is owned by the Vinken family. When you arrive at the estate, you will instantly be impressed by the overall picture. On the right-hand side you will notice the black and white half-timbered house in which the Vinken family lives. On the left-hand side you will see a large, covered terrace. In between there are two loam-coloured holiday homes called "Goudvink" and "Boekvink". These homes have been built in the old half-timbered barn that was fully restored in 2008. The half-timbered walls were re-exposed and authentically filled with loam. On the estate you can also find cowsheds and a small campsite for those who like to camp on a farm.
Let's take a look inside
Holiday home Boekvink, the right-hand holiday home of the half-timbered barn, can be recognised by the large windows by its entrance. After entering the home, you will find yourself in a small hallway that leads to the large living area. This living area is filled with light thanks to the big windows. Moreover, the space is a feast for the eyes, thanks to the bluestone tiled floor in combination with the half-timbered walls. Gather around the fireplace and enjoy each other's company while savouring a snack and a drink. Snacks can be prepared in the open-plan kitchen, which is equipped with all modern conveniences. There is, for example, a 5-burner gas hob, a microwave oven, a fridge-freezer, a coffee machine, a kettle and, of course, a dishwasher. You will also find everything you need for preparing and serving an extensive meal for the entire group. The long wooden dining table is ideal for extensive, Burgundian dinners. Bedrooms and bathrooms can be found upstairs. On the first floor, there are two double bedrooms, one triple bedroom and one quad bedroom. Furthermore, there is a separate toilet and a bathroom with shower and toilet. On the second floor, which features a beautiful wooden roof construction, there is one more bedroom for six people. This bedroom has its own bathroom with shower, bath and toilet. All bedrooms are attractively furnished and equipped with box-spring beds.
Outdoor space
At the back of the holiday home you will find a large terrace. Here, you can relax in the sun and enjoy the pleasant ambiance around you. Moreover, there is a wood fired OFYR barbecue waiting to be used. You can order wood in advance or bring it yourself. Boekvink is a true play paradise for children. They will love to play on the large estate and make use of the trampoline and the playing equipment. They also have the opportunity to explore the farm life.
The area
We certainly recommend exploring the beautiful surroundings. Boekvink has a unique location. You just need to walk down the dead-end road to find yourself in the middle of a nature reserve. The only sounds that you will hear in this place are those of the birds singing and the river Geul babbling. Another special area to discover by foot is the nearby forest Bovenste Bos. If you are lucky, you may run into a badger, fox or deer. Holiday home Boekvink is located at only five minutes walking distance from the centre of Mechelen. Mechelen is a lovely village known for its many half-timbered houses, picturesque streets and inviting terraces. The village also has a local supermarket, a butcher, a baker offering delicious Limburg pies, and various cafés and restaurants. If you plan to go out by car, it will only take you few minutes to reach Slenaken, Epen, Vaals, Valkenburg, Gulpen-Wittem or the Voer region. Moreover, you are only a half-hour's drive away from Maastricht, Aachen and Liège.
Larger group?
Boekvink can also be booked in combination with the neighbouring holiday home Goudvink. Together, these homes are very suitable for groups up to 34 people.
