Prachtvink XS is situated in Mechelen, one of the most charming villages in South Limburg. In 2018, this former stable was transformed into a wonderful, modern holiday home. Thanks to its large garden with play area, as well as its fire pit, this holiday home is a popular choice for groups with children.
Holiday home Prachtvink is normally suitable for groups of up to 28 people, but we now also offer the XS option. This means that smaller groups (of up to 14 people) get the opportunity to stay in this holiday home at a reduced rate. This option includes access to the entire ground floor, the outdoor area and in total 7 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.
Vinken family estate
This holiday home is tucked away at the end of a private track, on the impressive 30-hectare estate belonging to the Vinken family. This estate includes not just the holiday home, but also meadows with blonde suckler cows and horses, a small campsite, a riding arena and a small nature reserve where you can enjoy wonderful walks. On the part of the estate that’s closest to the street you will also find the owners’ family home, a half-timbered farm and two clay-coloured holiday homes called Goudvink and Boekvink. All the elements come together to form a wonderful estate.
Let’s take a look inside
You enter the holiday home in the open living area. Here you will find an attractive sitting area with a large flatscreen television, a well-equipped, open kitchen and a long dining table. In addition, there is a smaller table where, for example, board games can be played. The spacious kitchen is equipped with all conveniences for cooking up a feast. Guests of Prachtvink XS have access to seven double bedrooms. All bedrooms have a private bathroom with shower and washbasin. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor and is also wheelchair accessible. The other six bedrooms and two separate toilets are located on the first floor.
Outdoor space
Guests can make use of the large garden with fire pit and covered terrace. The terrace offers beautiful views over the meadows, woodland and horses. This outdoor space of Prachtvink XS is also a real paradise for children. They have plenty of space to run around and can use the various play area facilities such as the trampoline. They also get the chance to discover what life is like on a farm.
The area
This holiday home has a unique location in the heart of the Geuldal valley. Just a short walk down the private road and you’ll find yourself in the middle of a beautiful nature reserve where you’ll hear nothing but the babbling of the river Geul and birdsong. The nearby Bovenste Bos is also a special woodland area to go walking in. If you’re lucky, you may run into a badger, fox or deer. Just a five-minute walk from the holiday home is the centre of Mechelen, a charming little village known for its half-timbered houses, picturesque streets and al fresco dining. The village has a local supermarket, butcher, a baker offering delicious Limburg pies, and various bistros. You are also just a few minutes’ drive from the Voer region or villages such as Slenaken, Epen, Vaals and Valkenburg, and you are only half an hour’s drive from Maastricht, Aachen and Liege.
