Holiday home Schaapskooi is situated on the grounds of shepherd Ger Lardinois, just outside the little South Limburg village of Epen. This beautiful, green spot in the undulating Heuvelland offers an oasis of peace and above all a unique experience. The Schaapskooi welcomes groups of groups of up to 10 people
Let’s take a look inside
In 2015, the Schaapskooi was completely transformed. The holiday home has been restyled and has also gained a new bathroom and new beds. In the living area you will find an attractive sitting area with pellet stove and an open kitchen table. The kitchen is equipped with all conveniences such as a dishwasher, 5-burner gas hob, combi microwave, coffee machine and kettle. There is also a long, wooden dining table which is ideal for dinners with family or friends. If you go up to the first floor, you will find three bedrooms and three bathrooms with shower and washbasin, and a separate toilet. Finally, there are two more bedrooms and a bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet on the second floor. All bedrooms are equipped with luxury single box-spring beds.
Outdoor space
The large, covered terrace at the back of the holiday home is a lovely, sheltered spot where you can sit until it’s time to go to bed. This terrace leads onto a large garden with ping-pong table and a grass fiels. Plenty of entertainment for the children here! We definitely recommend going and exploring the beautiful surrounding area. Take the hiking trails into the woods or walk into the charming little villages of Epen and Mechelen.
Take a peek at the sheep
What makes a stay at the Schaapskooi extra fun is that you can take a peek inside the sheep barn. There are no fewer than 1000 Mergelland sheep on the grounds. As they graze peacefully, they contribute not only to the wonderful views, but also to the development of various plant species. And from January to March it’s lambing season. During the ‘lambing days’ you have the chance to stroke the little lambs and give them their bottle. With a bit of luck you might even see a lamb being born. You can also walk with the sheep (together with the shepherd) at any time of the year and take a course in sheep herding.
Please note
The location and setting mean that this house is not suitable for groups of young people.
