The trendy 6-person holiday home Villa Verde II is situated in a peaceful and natural location at the edge of the Bunderbos forest, just 9 km from Maastricht. You can reach the bustling capital of Limburg by bike, car or train in no time. The centre of Meerssen and the tourist hotspot of Valkenburg are also very close by.
Then and now
The proud owners of Villa Verde are Danielle, her husband Michael and their two children. The holiday home is part of a grand old building dating back to 1880. This building is located on a 4000 m2 plot with apple and pear trees that was bought some time ago by Danielle’s grandfather, who harvested fruit for a living. This orchard property became the childhood home of Danielle’s parents and later Danielle herself. When it was her turn, Danielle took over the house with all her heart and soul. Together with Michael, she transformed the former barn into a stylish yet sustainable holiday home. In addition to their trendy furnishings, Villa Verde II and Villa Verde III are equipped with air conditioning as well as sustainable energy sources such as heat pumps. Villa Verde is all about green living, tranquillity, the outdoors and being together.
Let’s take a look inside
You enter the holiday home in the attractive, colourful living area. Here you will find a sitting area, dining area and open kitchen equipped with all conveniences to cook up a feast. The owners offer delicious regional products such as jam, syrup, honey, apple juice and of course a good bottle of wine (given that Michael is a wine importer). You can enjoy long and relaxed meals together at the wooden dining table with bright yellow chairs and then get comfy together on the large corner sofa. Since Villa Verde is mainly focused on the outdoors and spending quality time together, there is no TV in the house. But if you would like to have a TV during your stay, you can let the owners know in advance. This will then be arranged for you.
The open, steel staircase takes you up to the first floor where there is one bathroom, one quad room and one double bedroom. Both bedrooms have been stylishly finished right down to the last detail and they are equipped with luxurious box-spring beds with the Villa Verde logo. Together with the high-quality linen, these box-spring beds ensure you get a good night’s sleep. Thanks to its wall tiles, the bathroom has a playful look and is equipped with a spacious walk-in shower and washbasin. On the landing you will also find an extra washbasin and separate toilet.
Outdoor space
This holiday home has a lovely private terrace that is not only equipped with garden furniture, but also a fire pit and a wood-fired pizza oven (which can be prepared for you on request and for a small fee). Guests also have access to a communal playing field where they can play sports like football and basketball, or just relax in the hammock. A nice bonus is that there are often cats and chickens on the grounds. This means you can have a fresh egg for breakfast, or take herbs and vegetables from the garden when available.
Villa Verde II is located in an area where you can enjoy walking, cycling and mountain biking. You can of course opt for the somewhat flatter routes, but for more challenging routes we recommend the marlland route, the hilly forest path or one of the GPX routes. Bicycles can be rented on request and safely stored at the house. It is also possible to charge electric bicycles (and from Autumn 2022, also charge cars) here.
