The beech avenue between the Meuse villages of Asselt, Swalmen and Beesel leads you to the Baxhof Estate, a beautiful natural spot with a centuries-old courtyard farm. In the old tithe barn of this courtyard farm you will find the stylish holiday home La Grange Baxhof XS. This holiday home is ideal for groups looking for a luxury stay where they can enjoy a peaceful and natural setting together. This holiday home is unique with its rural character, cosy atmosphere and authentic elements.
La Grange Baxhof is normally suitable for groups of up to 30 family members or friends, but last-minute we also offer the option to stay in this magnificent location with a smaller group. This is why we have created the ‘La Grange Baxhof XS’ option. This means that smaller groups (of up to twelve people) get the opportunity to stay in this holiday home at a reduced rate. This option includes access to the living areas, the outdoor area and six bedrooms and five bathrooms.
Then and now
The Baxhof courtyard farm has existed since the Middle Ages. Back then, the inhabitants still had to pay rent in the form of grain to the lord of the castle. The portion of grain harvest that had to be handed over (one-tenth) was kept in the tithe barn. The current owners of the estate have lovingly transformed this barn into the beautiful holiday home ‘La Grange Baxhof’, French for granary. The hay bales have been replaced by luxury box-spring beds. The owners knew that the courtyard farm had had a long and special past. But the discovery of the very well-preserved knights’ hall dating back to 1480 made it clear that the Baxhof is much more than your average Limburg courtyard farm.
Let’s take a look inside
La Grange Baxhof XS is situated on the south side of the courtyard farm. As soon as you enter the holiday home, you will be surprised by how spacious and elegant it is. Via the hall you enter a spacious living area with a Belgian blue stone floor and oak beams. The old stable gates and six-metre-long refectory table steal the show in this atmospheric sitting room. Everyone can dine together in the well-equipped kitchen. While dining you have views over the cobblestone courtyard and other parts of the courtyard farm, including the old knights’ hall. Also on the ground floor are two double bedrooms, two toilets and a bathroom equipped with shower, washbasin and toilet. The other four bedrooms and bathrooms are located on the first floor. The bedrooms have a warm look thanks to their authentic oak trusses.
Outdoor space
On the south side of the building there is a wonderful terrace with views over the sprawling meadows, towering fruit trees and the Beesels Broek woodland. Children can run around in the playing field, which is equipped with football goals, trampolines, swings and a slide. Hikers will love it here too. Several beautiful hiking trails start right from the front door. With a bit of luck you will spot roe deer, squirrels, hares and pheasants.

- Smoking is not permitted at La Grange.
- Pets are not allowed in this holiday home.
- Given its location in a designated quiet area, noisy parties are not allowed in this holiday home. Small, low-key celebrations are permitted.
