The Koningshof is a centuries-old farm situated just outside Montfort, in the Rozendaal nature reserve. This wonderful nature reserve, which stretches between Roermond and Maastricht, has been under the protection of the Limburg Landscape Foundation since 1970. The foundation also acquired a couple of centuries-old farms in this nature reserve, including the Koningshof farm. In 2013, the farm was completely restored and converted into two holiday homes, namely “Koningshof de Klaproos” and “Koningshof de Korenbloem”. These holiday homes can be booked together (at a reduced price) to make a luxury 25-person holiday home with a large, shared living area and plenty of outdoor space.
What’s behind the names ‘Koningshof de Klaproos’ and ‘Koningshof de Korenbloem’?
This farm is called ‘Koningshof’ (king’s court), as its former inhabitants were always protected by the king who lived in the nearby 13th-century Montfort Castle. The impressive ruins of Castle Montfort can still be visited today. The names ‘Klaproos’ (‘poppy’) and ‘Korenbloem’ (‘cornflower’) were chosen because from May to July the holiday homes are surrounded by colourful plants and flowers, especially poppies and cornflowers.
Let’s take a look inside
You enter the holiday homes via the front door in the courtyard. Both holiday homes have a large, light living area. The living area at the Klaproos has a spacious sitting area and a dining room with two long, wooden dining tables. This means you can enjoy a crackling fire while you all sit around the table together. The Korenbloem also has an attractive living area with a wood-burning stove. Both holiday homes have a well-equipped kitchen with blue stone countertops and stunning burgundy red wall tiles. Both kitchens are equipped with all conveniences such as a 5-burner ceramic hob, oven, microwave, large fridge, freezer, coffee machine and dishwasher.
In total, guests can make use of thirteen bedrooms and thirteen bathrooms. The bedrooms have a warm feel thanks to their wooden floors and clay-coloured walls. They are also equipped with luxury single box-spring beds. Three bedrooms and bathrooms are situated on the ground floor. The other bedrooms and bathrooms are located on the upper floors. The upper floors are linked via a connecting door, which means you can easily move from one holiday home to the other.
Outdoor space
Both living areas lead onto the large, private garden and private terrace, both of which are south-west facing and offer a spectacular view of the surrounding fields and orchards. With no other buildings in the vicinity, you can truly enjoy nature and spending time with each other in peace and quiet. There is plenty of room for children to play, as well as a covered table tennis table (shared with guests of both holiday homes).
Meeting room
There is also the option to book a meeting/event room. Just contact us for more information.
