History of the property
For two hundred years, this stately manor house built in 1750 was owned by a family of arms merchants who made weapons from Damascus steel and sold them to major historic figures like Napoleon Bonaparte. After the house was sold, the owners at the time fully restored it, paying attention to the smallest details. Katleen, the current owner, bought the property in 2015 and came to live here with her husband Kris and their three children. Following several renovations, they now rent out half of the house as a luxury bed and breakfast and use the other half as their private home.
Beaujean Vacances’ new and exclusive gem ‘Maison Heuse’ is now available for booking!
Inside
While the beautiful manor house has all the modern equipment you would expect, it still retains and respects the atmosphere of years gone by, uniting tradition and modernity under one roof. While a pellet stove keeps the spacious and bright living room nice and toasty, the nearby dining and breakfast room are warmed by a quaint, open fireplace. The country-style kitchen has an fridge, dishwasher, toaster, microwave oven, kettle, and Senseo coffee machine. Alongside the traditional pizza oven, the old-school wood or coal-fired range cooker is perfect for culinary maestros looking to try out their skills.
The first floor has four charming rooms with double boxspring beds. Two bedrooms have a private sauna and shower; the third has a free-standing Victorian bathtub, and the fourth is a duplex room. This room has its own private entrance, a sitting area, and a luxurious sleeping area accessible via the staircase. This room also has a en-suite with shower.
Containing thousands of books, the two large libraries are a treasure trove for the avid reader. Feel free to pick one and spend a blissful afternoon with a good book and good food.
