Holiday home L’Abri is the ideal holiday home for people who love peace, nature and craftsmanship. It is a unique 4-person holiday home situated between the hills of Gemmenich, just across the Dutch border. Here you have beautiful views over the Belgian Voer region.
The building
In 2017, restorer of half-timbered buildings, Philippe, decided to create something on the empty plot of land near his workshop. He put his heart and soul into constructing a half-timbered house that is perfectly in keeping with its surroundings. The house has been designed in such a way that guests can take full advantage of the natural light and unique panoramic views. By using a lot of wood, he has created a holiday home with a cosy, chalet-like atmosphere. Philippe can proudly call L’Abri his life’s work.
Let’s take a look inside
The holiday home has an open-plan living area. To the right is a dining area with an antique dining table, velvet dining chairs and an attractive wood-burning stove. Enjoy a tasty local beer or a nice glass of wine with the sound of the crackling fire in the background. Next to the dining area is a kitchen with a high-quality finish. It is equipped with all conveniences such as a 4-burner induction hob, combi microwave and dishwasher. On the left-hand side of the living area there is a brightly coloured sitting area with flatscreen television. The transparent, electric blinds keep it nice and cool in the summer, without losing the views. The staircase behind the kitchen leads you down into the basement where there are two attractive double bedrooms with box-spring beds. Both bedrooms have an en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower and washbasin. From one of the bedrooms you also have access to the garden. In the little hall you’ll find a separate toilet.
Outdoor space
The main feature of this holiday home is surely the spacious covered terrace with garden furniture where you can sit and eat outside the whole day long. The panoramic views over the South Limburg countryside and the Voer region will give you a liberating and relaxed feeling. L’Abri is centrally located and therefore the ideal starting point for exploring the beautiful surroundings on foot or by bike. With a car you can easily reach cities like Maastricht and Aachen, excellent choices if you fancy a day out shopping or to soak up some culture.
