Winter cosiness in Liège

The Liège Christmas Market is not just any Christmas market, but a charming winter village in the heart of the city. With over 200 chalets, twinkling lights, local delicacies and steaming mulled wine, it immerses you in the festive spirit. Each year, this largest Christmas village in Belgium attracts thousands of visitors – and for good reason. The blend of tradition, conviviality and culinary indulgence makes the Liège Christmas Market an absolute must for a day out or a full winter weekend with a stay at Beaujean Vacances.

When does the Liège Christmas Market take place?

The Liège Christmas Market usually starts at the end of November and runs until just after Christmas. In 2025, it is expected to begin on Friday 21 November and continue until Sunday 28 December. The chalets are open daily, often from 11:00 in the morning until around 20:00 or even 22:00 in the evening.

Note: Opening times may vary around the holidays. Always check up-to-date information in advance, especially if you plan to go in the evening.

What can you do at the Liège Christmas Market?

Eat, drink, shop and enjoy – that sums it up pretty well. But here are some highlights you absolutely shouldn’t miss:

  1. Taste local specialties
Liège is famous for its delicious Liège waffles, but there’s much more: from raclette to tartiflette, from hot chocolate to artisanal sausage and Belgian beers – the Liège Christmas Market is a paradise for food lovers.
  2. Ice skating in the city centre
On the rink at Place de la Cathédrale, young and old can take to the ice. Surrounded by twinkling lights and Christmas music, the atmosphere feels almost magical.
  3. Browse and discover handicrafts
The wooden chalets at the Liège Christmas Market are full of surprises: jewellery, Christmas decorations, leather accessories, toys, local products… perfect if you’re looking for an original gift.
  4. The Christmas pub
At the Village Gourmand you can enjoy a good glass of wine, a warm punch or a strong Liège Christmas beer. The atmosphere is friendly, warm and always lively. Live music and fire pits complete the experience.
